The animals I thought would work best for a Christmas/Winter garland were the bear and the moose.
I loved the kind of animals I bought, but I wasn’t really loving the orange of the moose. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty traditional when it comes to Christmas colors… or even some would say boring… but I kinda just like red, white and green for most things. I grabbed a can of spray paint and fixed my color problem. I did TAPE the ears of the moose before I sprayed to keep them white.
You can see how much the color did change.
I put two heavy coats of paint and then stood the little guys up to dry in the afternoon sun.
I took a stiff wire {had it around from something else} and poked it through the top of the little animals. I was just able to push it through and then create a loop on the back.
I used red and tan cord {also from IKEA} to string the animals together and added buttons in-between for more color.
My kids generally don’t want to join in with my crafting, but when they do I’m happy to have us work side-dy-side. On this afternoon, while I was working on the animal garland, my son Jack was busy stringing beads as well… I love these moments…
We’ve hung our Winter Wonderland Animal Garland on our door and are loving its’ whimsical look.

I love this! Moose are my favorite. Spray painting them red was a good choice.
