This post willl walk you through the tutorial for making this Spring Pom Pom Wreath. It’s so cute and colorful, and I love how the different kind so yarn look together. I used yarn from my yarn box that was left over from other projects. If I were buying yarn, I would make sure to pick several textures as they make fun different pom poms. You could also make with other colors for many seasons/holidays.
We had our spring pom pom wreath up for many months. So easy to make!
See all the different kinds of yarn? I love how they look together. To make this spring pom pom wreath you will need a wire wreath base and yarn.
Okay, so let’s talk about how to make a pom pom. It’s super easy and you don’t need anything special. I made the small ones with the fork and the larger ones with a wooden cooking fork {haha}.
Cut a 10″ {approx} piece of yarn and put it through the center of your fork. If no center – like this one – I’ll show you how to still tie it in the middle.
Wrap, wrap, wrap your yarn around the end of the fork. You want to wrap A LOT of yarn!
After you have your yarn wrapped around, pull your short piece up from the center and TIE it around the wrapped yarn. If you don’t have a center – angle the tie around like shown here. Pull tight!
Slide the yarn off the fork and pull even tighter, then tie again to secure.
Cut the center of every loop to make a cute little pom pom like this! Leave the long ties to use for attaching to the wreath. Now make this again and again. You will need approx 50 of these in small and large sizes to fill a 12″ wire wreath.
Flip you wire wreath over so the backside is towards you. Arrange your pom poms under the wire {so on the front} and use the long yarn to tie to the wire wreath base. I went all the way around with a single layer of pom poms before adding more and layering. I liked using the small ones on top of the bigger or to fill any holes. I would tie a few on, then flip over and look from the front. Keep going with this process until you have the pom pom wreath the way you like it!
So there you go! A spring pom pom wreath that will look great in any room of you home! We LOVE ours and I’m sure we will use it for years to come.
