Hi! I’m Jessica from Sunny Stitching where I blog about things I make and things that make me happy…like today’s opportunity to share in Sew Many Books! I am very excited to be joining in the fun and hope you have been loving the series! Thank you, Emily for hosting such a great combination of two things we love at our house: clothes and books! As soon as I received Emily’s invitation, I got my little girl involved. I asked, “If you could have clothes from any book, what would it be?” Her answer: “Madeline!”
So, after shopping at Joanne’s, hours sewing, and a fun photo shoot, here is our self-illustrated and condensed version of Madeline’s Rescue by Ludwig Bemelmans:
(That dog brought poor Madeline to safety. Madeline was then taken care of and felt much better after a while. She and the other girls kept the dog and named her Genevieve.)
Then after many months, the school had their annual inspection and after a failed attempt to hide Genevieve, the girls were devastated with Lord Cucuface’s announcement that Genevieve must leave.
He made her go and sent her out in the streets.
In the middle of the night, Miss Clavel senses something is not right and finds Genevieve outside!
The story continues with the girls so excited and fighting about who gets to sleep with Genevieve, but ends happily after Genevieve has puppies, enough so that each girl then has her own little hound.
Thanks for reading our story!

Oh my goodness that was gorgeous, my favorite so far because my daughter is Madeleine (the french version) after the book. My boys (yes I said boys) loved the books and show so much they wanted a sister named Madeleine 🙂
