I’ve been thinking about making these DIY Christmas Wall Decor canvases for month now… in fact the canvas has been sitting in my daughters closet for that long too! I finally got around to making them, and my Christmas Canvas Art porject turned out just as I had hoped.
This wall canvas project is sooo easy.. if you have a vinyl cutter. I have the Brother ScanNCut and it works like a dream to cut vinyl for this project. You can use any type of cutting machine though for a similar result. I made two different canvases with the same graphic, but differnt words.
DIY Christmas Wall Decor – Tutorial
You will need:
Canvas {any size that workds for your space}
Paint of your choice for canvas background
Design and Text {Use Illustrator or Photoshop to design and then import to the cutting machine}
I had water colors on hand.. I think I should have wet the canvas first? The paint did not go on like I had envisioned, but I like the result.
Cut out your designs and words. I used the same text for the main words, then another for the articles… to, the, on… I also use the same snowflake swirl for both.
Put the transfer tap over the top of the design and rub to stick. I like to get the transfer tape with grid lines to help me position.
Peel of the backing and then position on the canvas. Rub again, then peel off the transfer tape.
If you design has layers, place the bottom layer on first, then the second color/layer.
I like using the transfer tape as you can position and reposition easily.
Here’s mine! Simple and fun! Check out the video to see it in action…
And a few other fun Christmas Projects!!

The inner artist in me is just waiting to come out. I am going to see I can get my children to do this project with me.

Very pretty! Love making custom art and changing it as the seasons, and my moods, change. Visiting from What’d You Do Weekend party.
