Its Day 5 of Felt Week! I hope you are enjoying it just as much as I am!! There are only two more days to enter the fabulous Felt Pattern and Felt fabric Giveaway! You should also check out the Felt Candy Corn Tutorial, Felt Pumpkin Pattern and the Felt Food Inspiration that have been posted so far.. Today… I’m putting my newbie digital patterning skills to work again with the printable PDF Breakfast felt food pattern. Here’s what it will look like all made up.
I do love having little hand sewing projects to do and making felt food by hand {not my machine} is a little thing that makes me happy. The Giveaway winner will receive all the felt colors needed to make this pattern. The Felt pack is sponsored by Benzie Design felt shop. There will also be one other lucky winner of the breakfast pattern felt pack… so two of you will be set… the rest.. you will need to gather up these colors of felt. Go enter the GIVEAWAY if you haven’t already.
You will also need just a bit of batting/stuffing and coordinating embroidery thread to make these items.
Print the Felt Breakfast Food Pattern here. The pattern indicates which piece should be cut from each color. You can also reference the above photo. I’m going to start simple.. to the Felt Egg is up first. Place the yellow yoke circle on the wider end of the white. Sew 2/3 rds around the circle with a simple whip stitch. Put enough stuffing under the yoke that it “puffs” up. Close the hole.
Place the other white piece under the first and sew around the egg white.
Ok.. now just a bit harder is the felt bacon. Place the two white strips on top of ONE of the reddish bacon pieces. Sew down the center {up and down} of the white.
Place the second reddish piece under the first and again stitch around the outside to join the two. Repeat for a second piece of bacon if desired. {we all want MORE bacon, right?}
Next up is the slice of bread/toast. Start sewing the long edge of the really long skinny bread piece to the bread side at one corner. Round the edges best you can as you sew around the entire side of the bread.
Starting in the same corner, repeat with the second side of the bread. Sewing around the other long edge of the skinny pattern piece.
Leave an opening to stuff and put enough batting inside to make the bread thick. Sew up the hole. Cut Jelly {or other colors for peanut butter, butter, cream cheese, etc} and place on top.
Finally, let’s make the cup and Oj. Take the two larger semi- circles in blue and place them on top of each other. Fold to create the “cup” sides. Match the edges as below and sew up.
I started from the top and sewed to the bottom. When you get to the bottom, place the two blue circles and sew around. I just wanted to point out that I don’t take the time to keep my stitches perfect when making felt food. It always looks cute when finished and the boys are just going to play crazy with it… so I spend more time making sure it’s really together, than worrying about how the stitches look.
Trim the top if the blue felt pieces aren’t lined up and whip stitch around the top of the cup.. done!
Making the juice to go inside is very similar, but we will stuff it. Take the single layer orange and sew up the side.
add the single layer bottom, then add stuffing.
Now add the larger orange circle for the top and sew closed.
Place the orange inside the cup and you have a cute glass of Oj! the perfect drink to accompany your fun breakfast set.
