Summer is all about keeping the kids busy and happy and keeping mom {me!} relaxed and de-stressed. This little project can accomplish both. I get to get a few moments and enjoy a Snapple Tea {which I LOVE} then my kids can make this fun finger crochet bottle holder using the leftover bottle. They keep busy for awhile AND get a cool bottle to carry around on all our summer adventures. Sounds like a win-win to me.
I must admit I love ice tea… all summer {and winter} long, so any excuse to buy more {like to use the bottles!} is good with me. So first, sit back and enjoy your Snapple Ice Tea! Then scroll down to the finger crochet bottle holder tutorial.

Ok, so now that we’ve had a tea {or two, or five} let’s put those great bottles to use. You will need: Yarn, tape, bottle… optional: Silhouette machine and vinyl. You can make this with or without the decal, both will end up useful and super cute. You could also get some fun summer stickers and let your kids decorate the bottle.
If you are going to add the Fun in the Sun Vinyl decal add this to your bottle first. You can grab the free Silhouette File here {it’s in mirror image mode}
Apply to the bottle as directed on your vinyl packaging. You can use colored vinyl, or white like mine, then color it.
Okay, now let’s get to the bottle holder. You will want to start with one end of the yarn, tied in a knot, with a loop. In this picture I have my loop and knot, then I’ve folded the loop back over the yarn.
Pull the yarn through the loop you started with. This is now your new loop.
Continue pulling the yarn through the loop, then creating a new loop. You can play with how tight or loose you pull the yarn to create different looks. Here is a little video of the process.
Keep going until you have about 3 yards of crochet yarn. Cut from the yarn roll. Take the end where you started and tape it to the top edge of the bottle. {the tape is just to keep it in place while we work}
Take the yarn down the side of the bottle, under the bottle and back up the opposite side of the bottle. Now tape the yarn to the side of the bottle {like the right side of the picture below} From here you will begin to wrap the yarn around the top of the bottle, just under the lip.
When you wrap around to the yarn end, thread it through a crochet loop, then continue wrapping.
When you have gone all the way around and connected both sides by going THROUGH a loop {see the arrow}, continue another 1/4 of the bottle around.
We are now going to create the other vertical part of the holder, dividing the bottle into four parts. The arrow on the right shows the last place you connected the yarn, continue another 1/4 and push the yarn through a loop again {left arrow} then go down and under the bottle again.
When you come back up the other side, go through a loop again, then create the shoulder holder. Hold up the yarn to see how long you want it to extend from the top of the bottle. Then with the end, loop it through the yard on the opposite side and wrap around the neck of the bottle one or two more times and pull tight. This will secure it all together. Tie off the end and trim.
Here is a close up of the bottle all wrapped up!
You should have a yarn X on the bottom of your bottle, I secured with duct tape to keep it from slipping around. You could also glue.
There you go! ready for summer adventures of all kinds. Fill with water for the kiddos, and more tea for the mamas!
