Oh my goodness, this dress is gorgeous!! I saw a few other sewing friends sharing about this fun free pattern find and I knew it was one I had to try myself. I don’t love sewing with woven fabrics, but this dress was one that I needed to try. I’m going to share a bit about my experience sewing this free pdf dress pattern from Minerva{dot}com and McCall’s today.

Isn’t this dress just so lovely?? It’s right on point style wise as well right now. The pattern itself has options for a maxi-length and some sleeve ruffles. I love this simple version.
I happened to be at the beach today taking swim photos of my daughter, so she helped me snap a few of my new amazing dress.
I’m going to talk fabric for a minute, then I will highlight some of my favorite features below. You all know that I love sewing with knits, and this dress is NOT knit. I always like the idea of woven clothes, but never love how they turn out. I think I’ve finally got one I love!
Originally I bought some double gauze fabric to make this dress {and still might make one with it}, but decided to go with light and airy Rayon Challis for this one. I am wearing a slip under the dress as it seems very light.
Buy my same floral fabric HERE from Amazon, and check out THIS fabric as well that I purchased.
I love the full gathered sleeves. Both the shoulder and wrist have gathers.
And the cross front is also lovely. I sewed the V together so it stays put and not quite as low as in the original package photos.

Want this amazing multi-size pattern for yourself? Download it here from the Minerva site. You will see on this page that there are two steps. 1. register for a Minerva{dot}com account and 2. sign up for the newsletter. You must do both to receive the pattern. Here is what you will see when you click the above link. I’ve highlighted the two steps you need to complete.
I couldn’t get the site to open using Chrome, so if you are having trouble with the site, try a different browser. Once you complete the two steps above you will see a welcome email. If you don’t see it check your junk mail.
Open the email and click the “Get your Free Pattern” link. You will have to answer a few survey questions and after you submit you will have access to the pattern download files…
Also, when I printed the pattern I was confused at how to put it together. It wasn’t like my usual PDF patterns and I’ve never used a pdf from one of the “big four” pattern companies before.
TIP: you cut on the red page outlines, then overlap at the teal diamonds. This really confused me at first, but it went together easily after I figured it out.

Very cute dress! You mentioned wearing a slip. I have been trying to locate a half slip, but not sure they even make them anymore! I would make one but not sure where to buy tricot. Any ideas? Thank you 😊

I buy slips at opportunity shops. You can still buy them from specialist lingere shop, if you want new.

I’m just now seeing this dress, April 21, 2024. I have visited the Minerva website but I am not finding the pattern. Do you mind sharing the name of it or link? Thanks!

I updated the beginning of this post to note that it is no longer free. It was free for a couple of years, but no longer is.
