We have this favorite restaurant on one of our very favorite beaches… it serves this amazing fresh baked bread with dips that are to die for… we love the Greek tzatziki recipe. After a few years of indulging when were we there, I decided to try my hand at a few of the dips. With a few trial and error recipes, we now have a favorite Greek Tzatziki Recipe that I can make at home.
Greek Tzatziki Recipe
This tasty dip is super easy to make and is great on so many things. We like it with fresh bread, on falafel, pitas {as pictured here} or on crackers.
I like it as well because it’s a fairly healthy recipe. This dip is chalk full of cucumbers, and the base is 0% Greek yogurt! You can really slather it all over your sandwich and feel good about eating it.
okay, here’s the Greek Tzatziki recipe. You will need 1 cup packed shredded cucumber and 1 cup Greek Yogurt. 1 TBS minced garlic, 1 tsp lemon juice, 1/2 tsp honey if desired. {depending on your brand of yogurt it can be quite tart!}
If you don’t have Greek, you can strain regular plain yogurt with a cheesecloth. You do not want it to be runny. I also squeeze all the moisture out of my shredded cucumber with a clean kitchen towel.
Add the cucumber, garlic and lemon juice to the yogurt. Mix well. Taste and add the honey if needed.
It’s also amazing with cous cous… how would you eat it?

Absolutely LOVE Tzatziki sauce and I’ll put it on just about anything! I have a “weakness for the Greekness”, as I like to say. ๐ Love that you shared this at Snickerdoodle Sunday and I hope to see you again this weekend!

I love tzatziki! But I always assumed that it would be hard to make since it seems so exotic. I’m definitely going to give this a try. Pinning to my recipes board.
