I’ve been working on this fun Knit Cowl Pattern in my spare time and am so excited to share it with you today. It was super easy and once you get started it knits up really fast. I ended up using the teal yarn as an after thought, but I LOVE the way it looks with the two colors.
You will need medium weight yarn {two colors} and size 8 US circular needles.
I cast on 121 stitches, but I think its just slightly too small. I would recommend between 131-151 {must be an odd number of stitches} stitches depending on the size of your neck and how loose you want your cowl. I used a basic moss stitch for this knit cowl and its perfect because it looks the same on both sides.
round 1 and 4: k1, *p1, k1* continue between *
round 2 and 3: p1, k1 all the way around
continue this pattern repeating rows 1-4. When you have 5 inches, change to a second color for 4 rounds. Switch back to the original color for 4 more rounds, bind off loosely.
What is your favorite knit cowl pattern? This is my first pattern, but I have knit a few cowls in the past. I think I’ve learned that wider is better, so don’t make it too thin when you are knitting. A few years ago I knit myself a sweater. If you are looking for another easy knitting pattern, try this sweater.
And today, its a two-for-one! Head over to Bird and Bean where I’m sharing another cowl pattern! This Braided Cowl Sewing tutorial, is super easy. You can find the full tutorial and my awesome modelling skills there. {aiya!}

Very cool it is very nice looking. I haven’t knitted in a while because I moved to Hawaii 3-4 years ago and it’s just not sweater or scarf weather (not that I mind I love it here). Maybe I will try one of these and send back to family members on the mainland (NC). I haven’t been inspired to knit in a while and this post definitely inspired me. Thank you for sharing on Great Idea Thursdays.
