I like to take good care of my body. When I look good, I feel good and that makes me a better person all around! I know I share a lot of kid and family friendly recipe ideas here, but today I’m sharing about me! I’m sharing a few tips for weight management that have worked for me and I hope you will find them helpful too.
1. Be aware of what you eat. I try not to obsess about food and I don’t count every calorie that goes in my mouth, but I am aware. I have a general sense of how much I have eaten in the day and try to consume healthy food. I have used My Fitness Pal app before for calorie counting and it was helpful. I also have used various Slimfast products over the years. I keep some powdered Slimfast shake mix in my pantry for those days when I want to reduce my calories. If I know I’ve had a big weekend I will often use Slimfast for a few days to get back on track. I was also given these snack bars to try and they are delightful! The Greek yogurt and honey is a tasty blend and at 110 calories its a great “deal” for the calories. These snack bars are new this spring and are sold at most food/drug store retailers as well as online through Amazon.
I use Slimfast products to manage my ideal weight, but its also a great way to reach your goals. The Slimfast® 14 Days to Slim is a convenient and delicious way to lose up to lose 6 pounds in the first 2 weeks. If you aren’t familiar with the Slimfast 14-Day Slimdown, here are the basics. Swap two meals daily with a Slimfast® protein shake or meal bar, have a third meal that is at least 500 calories. Eat up to three 100-calorie snacks or pieces of fruit per day. Keep your calories under 1200, with 30 minutes of exercise, and drink plenty of water. You will be on your way to a healthier you in no time.
2. Find exercise that you like. Workout DVDs, Running, Crossfit, a Gym, Biking, Walking…. the list of exercise programs and activities is endless… my advice…. try many until you find one that you love {or at least can really tolerate} Don’t only run if you really dislike running…. You won’t keep it up if its not something you enjoy. I have to mix it up. I like to run, but only 2-3 times a week. The other days I like to do a workout dvd in my home. I’ve done several Jilliam Michaels DVDs and have really enjoyed those. This summer I bought T25 and am 5 weeks in. I’m really LOVING it!!! Starting the second phase today.
3. Keep snacks and food on hand that help you reach your weight and fitness goals. This summer I choose to have a Slimfast snack bar when others were having treats. Don’t get caught hungry with nothing but high calorie snacks around.
I also made sure I had snack bars on hand when I was traveling to see my sister in Philly. It made a great snack on the plane {and yes, I think I’m the worst selfie taker in the world!}
