NEW HOUSE UPDATE! We’ve been in transition for the past 3 months… We are finally moved into our new home and for the first time in 3 months I’m not living out of a suitcase {haha!} SO nice! We still have a long way to go to make this place feel like home, but I’ve been away from the blog for the past week so I thought I would give you a little moving update… {and next week I promise I will be back to the blog next week!
Mid-May we packed up our boxes to ship to the US, {they still aren’t here – akkkk} and moved from our Hong Kong apartment home to a one bedroom apartment short term housing… It was actually on the top floor of where my husband works and my kids go to school so that was very convenient. We had one bedroom {where the kids slept} and a mattress in the living room where my husband and I slept at night. It was actually pretty spacious considering and since we didn’t have much stuff, it worked well for the month we stayed there.
From there we finished up school in Hong Kong and flew back to the US… We stayed a few weeks at my parents… camping out in this room..
And a week at my husbands parents… staying here.. We were able to leave most of our things at my parents and travel light.
Then finally came time to make the move to CO. My husband started work mid-July so he and I drove from WI with a u-haul of bins and a couch {the only piece of furniture we owned}. We closed on a house the next day, but didn’t move in until last Friday. The former owners rented from us for a while – they were waiting on their new house as well. My husband stayed 6 weeks in this Extended Stay hotel room, thankfully the kids and I were at my parents for a bit longer and only stayed here 3 weeks. It had a little kitchen and we survived…
New House Update
The great news is that as of last Friday we were actually living in our home… had no furniture, but we were here!! I snapped these photos on Friday before we really brought anything in, so you can see it in it’s bare form. Over the nest few months I’ll show each room as we finish it… so far it’s coming along nicely… last night we all slept in our bedrooms on assembled beds, so we are making progress! Here we go… room by room {but no photos of the three bathrooms! } ha…
The front room – will be the kids playroom and my office… the pile on the floor is new floors for the upstairs bedrooms.
On the same level as the front room is the kitchen and eating area.. I’m standing on the stairs to the bedrooms to take the photo and I love how open it it.
More Kitchen..
And eating area. Behind it you can see the living/family room.
Family room… Gorgeous floors, lots of light and a fireplace!
Upstairs… the master bedroom and bath
There is another bathroom and two identical rooms upstairs as well. The boys are in one and Rose in the other.
And finally down three 1/2 flights of stairs is the basement. The laundry is down here and a nice open room and another bathroom…
So there is the base layer…from here we get to make it our own and we’ve been assembling furniture non-stop! It’s coming along.. Okay.. that’s the new house update for this week.. I’ll be back with the Create Link Inspire party on Monday night and other posts during the week. Enjoy your holiday weekend for those of you in the US!

Your home is beautiful but it’s the family that will make it a home. Enjoy every minute of making it what your family wants. Thank you for sharing.
