We had SO much fun with this project. Both making it AND eating it… The most fun was eating it! We’ve never made OREO Cookie Balls before… and I’ll admit they don’t look as pretty as the example, but they taste A-MAZING and look pretty festive too! Here is our OREO Cookie Ball Christmas Tree.
I used white chocolate to cover each OREO cookie ball and then added sprinkles while it was still soft. This was a great part for the kids to help with. I need to practice my chocolate dipping technique for sure.. but if a novice like me can make them look at least decent.. YOU can make these too!
You can pick up everything you need for this recipe at Walmart.
Here is the official OREO Cookie Ball recipe.
Oreo Cookie Balls Christmas Tree
Make this fun Oreo Ball Christmas tree with Oreo Balls on top of a rice krispie base for a great combination party food.
Ingredients
- {Official Oreo Recipe}
- 1 pkg, 8 oz. brick cream cheese, softened
- 36 OREO Cookies, finely crushed (about 3 cups)
- 4 pkg., 4 oz. each semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted
- {optional}
- White chocolate instead of regular
- Christmas sprinkles
- 1 Package marshmallows
- 1 box rice krispie cereal
- 2 TBS butter
Instructions
- MIX cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
- SHAPE into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls in melted {white} chocolate; place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan. {add food coloring to some of the chocolate if you want a color}
- CUSTOMIZE it with your own ingredient additions or decorative skills.
- REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm.
- Share and enjoy!
- While those are chilling, make a batch of rice krispie treats by following directions on the back. I added the green food coloring to the marshmallows before I added the cereal. Form into a rectangle. Refrigerate for 30 min. then cut into the shape of a Christmas tree and place on a serving tray or cutting board.
- Place the Oreo balls on top of the tree like ornaments. Refrigerate until you are ready to serve.
I love that you don’t need many ingredients!
You can eat the OREO Balls off first, then cut up the tree, or cut up the tree with the decorations on top.
How would you decorate your OREO balls?
The combination of the OREOS, cheese and chocolate is amazing!
