Sew Many Books is coming!

This post has been in the works for months!! I’m excited to announce that this September will my second Sew Many Books series…. {yeah!!} what is this you may ask? Sew Many Books is a sewing series of children’s clothes, inspired by children’s books. I don’t know about you, but I LOVE kids books! I don’t so much love playing cars, planes, trains {insert other boy toys here} but if my boys ask me to read… I’m there!! Last year I hosted the series for the first time and this year its back… bigger and better than ever! Sept. 1-30 will be packed with all sorts of fun!

1. 10 fabulous bloggers will be sharing looks here with more details on their blog too!

2. A Mega fabric and pattern giveaway will open Sept. 1 and run through the 26th.

3. A link up where you can share your book inspired looks too {with a prize pack for the winner!!!} The link will run Sept. 1-21, with voting open the week after. You can link up any look made in 2014. It can be an old post, as long as you add info about this series and a link back to the post.. so if you’ve already sewed something that was book inspired…. get ready to link up!

My name is Sarah and I am a wife, a mother to two gorgeous girls and a sewing and craft enthusiast. By day I am an Industrial Hygienist serving in the Uniformed Services; but in my off-time, I am a crafting, sewing and make-it-myself maniac! Having two daughters is the perfect excuse to sew and craft; I have sewn everything from my daughters’ crib and bedroom ensembles to my sister’s wedding dress. Luckily my girls still enjoy wearing the creations I come up with and act as (somewhat unwilling) models for my various projects.

My name is Magda E. and I blog over House of Estrela. I am a SAHM to Gabriela (3 years old) and Santiago (1 month old), and we live in Portugal. I usually blog about my sewing creations. I have commited to myself to stop buying clothes and/or fabric if not really necessary. I have a huge (well, not so much nowadays) stash of fabric and clothes that I use to refashion and recycle. Sewing from what I have is a great challenge, so every little excuse is wonderful for me to sew. I was excited when I heard from Emily, and little after that I already knew what I wanted to make.

Ajaire from Call Ajaire

Hi, I’m Ajaire from Call Ajaire and I’m excited to participate in this series, but first a brief introduction.  I’ve always loved making. At an early age I started cross stitching and sewing and I taught myself to knit and crochet during college. When our now three year old daughter Bean was born I was filled with all sorts of inspiration, so I find ways to manage my crafty time and treasure those moments.  Books are a big part of our life with Bean so this series is a perfect fit for us.  I can’t wait to introduce you to the inspiration book and the resulting outfit!  For sneak peeks be sure to follow on Instagram or Facebook.

Scary and Al from the Shaffer Sisters

Hi, We are Al and Scary!  We are the youngest two of the Shaffer Sisters trio. We love cooking with butter & cream, watching our kids play, relaxing with friends, and talking over sewing projects. 
Growing up we were always referred to our family as “the girls” and were nearly inseparable; while growing up we shared a bedroom, friends & hobbies. Until a year and half ago we were neighbors and our children grew up together almost like siblings. We have always shared many of the same design tastes; though Al is a bit more bold and dramatic & Scary is a bit more romantic and classic. We love to have opportunities to work together, we end up pushing each other to create something more. Whether creating in the kitchen, sewing room, or working on a pattern design we have found everything is more fun together!

I am a 42 year old woman who is wife to the same man for 18 years and counting, and Mom to an 8 year old girl that I affectionately nicknamed “Falafel“, and to a 14 year old girl who my husband, at her birth, dubbed “The Bee“.

Whew. That’s a lot of numbers.

My grandmother bought me my first (and only) sewing machine (it’s a Singer Quantum XL-1) when we got engaged almost 20 years ago. I was terrified of it! When I had our first child, I decided that it was time to take out that machine (so that I could make her tiny little things), and started to get to know it better. I haven’t stopped since. I have learned (and am learning still) about sewing solely from the plethora of wonderful sewists on the internet!
