This Valentines felt placemat was so fun to make. I love working with felt, and it’s perfect for holiday crafting and sewing. The finished is super cute and will make our valentines dinner extra special. My kids like little extra things like this and felt makes it easy make this heart placemat. You can make the heart design anyway you want, but I’ll show you how I made this one.
A little but of how I did my handsewing… and set the placemat..
Yes, I know my place setting is not correct… the fork should be on the left.. if I were using the “proper” setting rules.. however, we usually just throw some forks on the table, so I’m not really familiar with official setting rules. {haha} Actually, my kids set the table, and I let them do it however they want to.
Okay, let’s look a little closer at this Valentines Felt Placemat…. I knew I wanted to use felt, and cut some hearts… then I found this green cotton lace in my stash and I knew it would look great around the edge. I used hot glue to attach it around the edge.
Start with felt scraps you have, and any lace or ribbon for the border. You will also need embroidery thread or glue to attach the hearts to the mat. Cut the main base for your mat from a large piece of felt. My placemat was about 17 x 13″… but you could make yours any size you want.
Cut several hearts in different sizes.
Arrange the hearts in the corners of the placemat. When you have the hearts the way you want them, glue some ribbon or lace around the edge for a border.
Sew or glue your hearts in the corners of the placemat.
There you go! Super cute right? I love this Valentines felt placemat. I need to make a few more for our family and then we can use these for a fun Valentines dinner! How do you make holidays special? I love using felt.. it’s colorful and really easy to make holidays crafts with.

Very cute! I don’t have the best sewing skills but I have a ton of fabric glue and lots of leftover felt so this will be fun to try 🙂
