For this Friday I’m putting together a round up of the matching outfits I’ve made over the past few years for the kids on my side of the family…. We get together every summer and I’ve been trying to make outfits for the kids to wear for photos every year….
In 2010 I made two rompers and a dress. There were three kids {one was mine} and they were 3,2, and 9 months. The smallest romper didn’t fit at all and we had to cut it down the back to even take this photo {wow, I’ve come a long ways! ha!} You can read about these matching outfits here.
The next summer in 2011, I made two overalls, one romper, and an overall dress. The kids were 9 months, 1,2,4. They all fit! {yeah!} You can read about the overalls and get the FREE PATTERN here.
last summer, in 2012 I made matching three pairs of shorts and one skirt. The kids were 1,2,3,5. You can get the tutorial for the shorts with pockets here.

This summer I’ve got SEVEN kids to dress…. yes, after a few slow years there has been a population explosion in my family {ha!}…Last fall my sister had a baby and my sister in law had twins… all girls… so this summer I am dressing 3 boys and 4 girls… aged 10 months (x2) 9 months, 2,3,4 and 6… I found adorable dresses… so I decided to buy for the girls… and I’m making shorts for the boys. I’m working on pocket shorts with 3 variations… {of course I’ll share later!}
The dress is on the right… and I bought to coordinating fabrics for the boys shorts… I am going to end up using the one with the green for the shorts.
I got this fabric on my latest shopping trip to the Hong Kong fabric markets…. It can be a great place for cheap fabric or a frustrating experience of fighting crowds and finding nothing…
Here are a few photos from the fabric market where I shop locally {I dream of Joannes and Hobby Lobby the whole time!!!}
I took this photo about two years ago of my double stroller loaded down after a shopping trip
I do love the ribbon stores…
There are also a lot of stores that sell beads in this same part of town… eye candy!
Do you like to have your kids/cousin match? I am a sucker for the matching outfits… Probably stemming from my mom dressing us all alike when we traveled {even as teenagers…oh yikes!} To get more details on the matching outfits mentioned in this post see:
This post will be shared at my Friday-Sunday Link parties

I am a twin so my mom dressed my sister and I very similar; same pattern, different color. I have made my girl a couple of pillowcase dresses and my son matching bow ties. I want to do more of that for them, once my studio is finished. Almost done and so excited. That fabric market looks wildly disorganized…where do you start? 🙂
