I’m so happy to be participating in the selfish sewing week from imagine gnats and made with moxie. For this tutorial I used the basic pattern from Collete Patterns and I was inspired but how Tidy Tipsy turned it into a dress. I’ve put these two resources together, and added some photos and tips of my own to help you make a similar look.
And I added length to the bottom for the dress. The front will be wider because of the pleats at the neckline. I trimmed the skirt width to match the back.
Like Tidy Tipsy I added pockets. Here’s how I did it. Cut a pocket shape..and pin it to the side of the dress. Place it over your shoulders after you have sewed those and see where you want the pocket to be. Sew a pocket {from pin to pin} to the front of the skirt and to the back of the skirt.
After you have sewed them to the front and back, then pin down the side-seam and around the outside of the pocket. After I turned it back right side out, I top-stitched the pocket opening.
Following the rest of the instructions for the tank I finished up the dress. I made my neckline and arm holes with a hidden bias tape and opposed to the outside like the tank.
