Kids Clothing Week 4{Sewing Jeans for boys}

My final KCWC post: Skinny Jeans for my boys… Don’t they look super! I love how they turned out. I actually made the whole outfit, but lets talk about the jeans.

 What have I been so scared of??? I’m so happy that some free denim {scored from my husband’s school art dept} and I’d had the pattern for awhile…. It’s the Skinny Jeans pattern – Click here to get the pattern from the Peek a Boo Shop.

Speaking of sewing new patterns…
Have you heard of Craftsy? I love them.. I use the free patterns and tutorials the site offers and tons of other great resources. Craftsy

I whipped up two pairs this week, in two sizes. The 3T is actually a bit small for my3 year old… but he is a thicker build.

I also ended up making one with belt loops and one without…just to see. I didn’t have a real jean button, but I think the yellow ones are cute too.
I just had two areas of difficulty when sewing the pattern.
I can’t quite figure out the faux fly button thing.. the fly still opens a bit to allow dressing, but getting the waistband sewing to both sides was tricky.
and second, turning all the little belt loops was not so fun… not tricky, just finicky!
We love all the pockets.. especially the  small pocket within the front pocket… perfect for lego mini-figures!
And the back ones are pretty great too.
 I also sewed the shirts in this shoot. The brown one can be seen in this post {B is for Brown} and the white/gray is the Pj top to the Football Costume  once Halloween is over.
 I think based on our photoshoot this afternoon these jeans will work great for this winter.
 and just for fun… a moment from our shoot…{where I cropped out the head for the back pocket pic}{oh, these two make me smile!}

    I love this! My mother made all of our clothing when we where younger, and I hope to make my kids clothing someday too. Really love the pictures, the boys look soo happy!
