I always get a bit giddy on pattern release day! AND I’m extra excited becuase its another boys pattern! {of course you can make it for girls too!} You can buy the Boys Classic Cargo Shorts Pattern in my SHOP – you’ll also find all the details and size chart there.
This pattern is for confident beginners- intermediate sewers. These classic style shorts have a faux fly and cargo pockets on both sides. Elastic waistband with knit elastic makes for classy, but super comfortable shorts. Front top pockets are perfect for small items and store larger treasure in the side cargo pockets. Plenty of pockets for boys who love adventure. Perfect for play or days when you have to dress up.
My boys do not like real waist bands with zippers and snaps/buttons… even my 8 year old gets all weird about it… so these shorts still look great, but are comfy for my boys.
Please use the hashtag #classiccargos when sharing so I can see your work. If you haven’t joined my pattern group on FB we’d love to have you join <HERE> Ok, now onto the amazing boys classic cargo shorts pattern versions my testers made last week…. I love them and my boys need several of these!
I adore these red shorts!!!
The little tiny versions are so so cute!! Chubby baby legs are cargo pockets are a great combo!
My amazing testers did such a great job with giving feedback to make this pattern better and ready for the rest of you to sew up!!
Again…you can buy the Boys Classic Cargo Shorts Pattern in my SHOP– head over to either one of those for size charts and pattern details.

Hi, I’m a bit confused on how to blend sizes.
My 2.5 yo has the waist measurements of a 18 mo and the height of a 4 yo – a skinny tall toddler 🙂
How should I adjust the crotch area (rise of the shorts) in this case?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am in the midst of sewing these great cargo shorts, but cannot find for the life of me the tutorial on the cargo pockets, can you please supply the link? Thanks
