I’m all about summer time! Sun, water, sand and fun are all things I LOVE and love doing with my kids too! Because my husband is in education we spend most of the summer traveling around and visiting family and friends that we haven’t seen since last summer. Being on the road can be hard with kids, but it can also be a blast, as we explore, visit and play all summer long. I like to try and make the most of summer with our family and with those we spend time with along the way. Today I’m going to share a few ways I’ve found to make the most of summer vacation. Fun, Games, Food and #tripleclean with Huggies.
1. Spend time with family… I grew up with no cousins – that’s right, 0! And I didn’t know my Uncles very well either, so for me, spending time with family every year is very important. My kids are SO blessed to have lots of cousins.. here are the ones we spent last week with.. and we are with the other side of the family and more cousins this week.
And not just the kids… I love my whole big crazy family… this is a real – live – not staged shot from our photo shoot last week… I just love the chaos and love in this photo! {we did get some good ones in the end!}
2. Laugh {a lot!!}
My husband has a great sense of humor and as you can see above, my family does too. Laughter is so good for the soul!
3. Try New Things… camping not your style, but the kids are begging to go? DO IT? Not the creative type, but kids are bored? Check out Pinterest for ideas and just do your best! {check out my summer fun board for inspiration!}
Large kerplunk Game {find directions to make your own here} Loads of more game ideas from my family… check out this post. Also, this yard Yahtzee post from last year has been very popular!
Inexpensive fun things for kids.
Ice block Adventure – Freeze layers of ice with “treasures” inside… give the kids a small hammer and let them find the prize. Some ideas for prizes: coins, rubber/plastic toys, neat rocks, etc
M&M Hunt. For each child count out a certain number of M&Ms.. then find a clean place in the yard and throw all the candy into the grass. Kids can only find their color…
Cook and eat meals out side. Looking for Pie Iron Recipes? Check out this post. If you have a backyard fire pit – USE IT! It not, just have a lot of picnics this summer. On the 4th we cooked breakfast outside.. fun for all!
4. Go with the flow… When traveling I find that I don’t have control over a lot of things. It’s easy to stress and worry, but I find that when I relax and just be in the moment, I have a much better time and things work out too. This is something I’ll be working on all summer, but when I’m more relaxed my kids are too, and that’s good for the whole family!
5. Carry a well stocked MOM BAG that included Huggies wipes Because Kids Outgrow Diapers, Not Messes*
My stocked summer bag includes my camera, healthy snacks, suncreen and Huggies Natural Care ®. {Great for playtime, meal clean up {of kids AND table} and exploring, you will always be glad to have a wipe on hand.}
I like Huggies because the wipes are gentle enough for faces and little hands, but the wipes are also strong enough to clean up big messes.
Huggies® Wipes come in a variety of fun, convenient packaging, so whether you keep them stashed in your living room, or bag, or car, there is a design that will suit your needs. They come in stylish designs to compliment any trendy mom’s ensemble.
Check out these 101 ways to use Huggies wipes, you can grab a variety of Huggies products for all your summer needs at Walmart. I’m pretty sure I’ll always carry wipes, even when my kids are grown, not sure how I survived before {ha!} they are so handy!

I grew up with lots of cousins too. Unfortunately, my brother doesn’t have any children and my brother in laws kids are all grown. So my kiddos have no cousins their ages, but luckily we have plenty of friends who are. These are all great ideas. I love the kerplunk game.

Friends are great fun too! We live 8000 miles from family, so friends are who we spend the most time with as well.

I grew up with lots of cousins and sadly, for my daughter, hers are all far away. Friends have to do most of the time. Love these activities.

What great ideas! We don’t have any kiddos, but these games could be just as fun for adults.
