This DIY Halloween treat bag is perfect craft for a Halloween party or just to make with your own kids. I’m prepping this craft for twenty kids at a costume party that will take place the week of Halloween. I had my son try out these treat bags today to see how it would go. I love the way they turned out.
its that SO cute!! And, I prepped it, but then my son made it all on his own. So its a great craft for kids to do on their own {with a bit of help} My five year old made it, and my three year old helped me model!
Cuteness huh?? Okay, lets show you how this was done… I know its simple, so I’ll keep this brief.
Paper bags with handle {We asked starbucks to donate for our kids party}
Orange and black craft foam
Foam Glue
Pumpkin Templates {Pumpkin template 1} {Pumpkin template 2}
Sharpie markers {for the adults!}
Crayola washable markers for the kids
Prep needed:
Write something on the bag for the kids to color…
Cut out pumpkins from the orange craft foam, add some pumpkin lines and a stem with the sharpie.
Cut the black foam into tiny pieces. Squares, triangles and other bits.
here’s the step I’m not sure if I should have the kids to or do ahead of time. The pumpkin needs to be glued on and it takes awhile. I glued it, then put it under my cutting mat to dry while Jack colored the letters… seems like maybe it would be best to prep this ahead of time for drying purposes…
Have the kids color the letters.
Then choose two black shapes for the eyes, and one for the nose… You can also take several tiny pieces and put together to make an eye shape. I cut all sizes and shapes.
Jack wanted to add hair and legs to his pumpkin, but I said he had to wait until after I took these pictures! {ha!} so this pumpkin may get a makeover soon!
He was a bit sad there wasn’t any candy inside… Halloween is ALL about candy for this little guy!
So, this is what we will be using for Halloween treat bags this year. What about you? Are you making something new, using something from what you’ve had before?

Halloween is not really big where we live, but we still get a few kids knock on our door. I am extra generous with those in home-made costumes, or when it is evident kids were involved in preparations. I think families can have so much fin and enjoy real quality time doing simple things like this.

Very cute idea! We use the same bags year after year, but as my kids get older, they will probably want something less babyish. Might have to try this idea this year instead.
