I’m super excited to be teaming up with my free SVG file friends to bring you another fun list of free cut files. This month we all have fun ornament ideas for you. My contribution is a this delicate felt ornament template. Use with your cutting machine {I used a Scan N Cut} to create beautiful felt ornaments.

I wasn’t sure how this would work when I first started this project, but I’m so pleased with the results.

You may be able to hand cut the felt, but I used my Scan N Cut to create these ornaments. The free cut file below will work with any electronic cutting machine to create beautiful felt ornaments for your tree or to give as gifts.

Felt Ornament Supplies

Stiff felt {not soft and flexible}
Cutting Machine
- I have included a pdf file as well for those of you who want to try hand cutting, but a machine is recommended.
String for hanger

Hot glue gun

How to make an 3D Felt Ornament

remember… stiff felt is the key. Also, depending on your cutting mat you may need painters tape to help keep the felt in place and/or an extra high tack mat like I used.

For a flat ornament cut two of the design. For a 3D shape cut four of the design.

You can make a simple felt ornament by just gluing two shapes together… simple and beautiful.

To make the 3D shape take your four felt pieces. Put glue on half of one piece and then glue another piece to that half. Glue the other half to a third piece. Add a string for hanger.

Now open up the three pieces that are all half glued together and glue the fourth piece each to half of the other. Add glue to any parts that aren’t secure and them open up to reveal the 3D shape. You may have to fold and press to get it right. I love the final look! Make lots in your favorite Christmas colors.
