Hi friends! Kelly here from Sewing In No Mans Land and Wild Wandering. I am thrilled to be here on Nap Time Creations today! I love finding inspiration in literature and children’s literature is twice the fun! I knew I wanted to do something Dr. Seuss inspired but kept going back and forth between doing something wild and crazy or take an actual character as my guide. After reading Cat In The Hat one night to my girls I thought about how cute Sally’s outfit was.
Plus who doesn’t need a little black dress?
I wanted it to be super simple to make so it is actually only one pattern piece! I just cut it out twice and sewed it together to make nice finished seams.
I added a little criss cross in the back with a happy red button.
Her top is a little pull over with a peter pan collar.
What is hilarious is that we started out the shoot with several shoe options but she was having none of it! So barefoot we went!
But the baby converse were my fav’s even if they only lasted moments ha!
Of course she had to have a big red bow like Sally so I made one out of some old velveteen fabric.
It is funny because when I finished I thought “if you had a little girl who wore a uniform this would be such a great easy project” ha!
For now we will just enjoy our classy sally dress and read some more Seuss!
Thank you Emily for including me in this great series!!
