I’m not the pallet art expert in my family {that’s my sister}, but I thought I would try my hand at diy pallet art when I saw these little pallets for sale. I cut my fabric on my ScanNcut , super simple, and use it to decorate my pallet for a Valentines Day decoration.
Pallet Art with fabric –
So you can now buy this little pallets to be crafty with.. this is my kind of project as it involves no woodworking {haha} I can cut a mean fabric letter though, so this tutorial will show you how to use the free .svg file or .pdf file to cut out the letters and then glue them on a cute little pallet. I used to layers of fabric to add a little extra to the pallet, but you could just do one layer.
Ok, first, go grab the file. You can create your own letters.. or use mine.. here is the PDF version or the SVG version. Most craft cutters will allow you to directly upload the svg file, but if that doesn’t work for you you can use the pdf file… you can also use that version if you don’t own a craft cutter. You will need to re-size the letters to fit your pallet. I cut all of one fabric, then made it just a bit smaller and cut again from the second fabric. You should now have two of each letter.
I used Mod Podge Matte to attach to the pallet and cover the fabric. You can check out the video below to see exactly how I put it all together… Basically you put the mod podge under AND over the letters until it’s all covered.
Arrange the letters on the pallet, then lift and glue one section at a time.
After I had put glue over all the letters, I wasn’t sure if it would show when it dried… I ended up putting a thin layer of mod podge over the whole pallet to blend it.
And when it dried it was perfect! Easy and adorable pallet art with fabric. I can’t wait to make another one with a different word!
I made this to hang over our brand new fireplace and mantle {long story}… But it’s finished and it’s gorgeous and now it’s decorated with come cute pallet art for Valentines day. I would love to make one like this that says FAMILY or something like that for everyday display.
