I had forgotten about this Orange Creamsicle Ice Cream that my grandma used to make. My brother mentioned making it recently and I was excited to think about making this for my family. My Grandma was very careful to respect my mothers wishes to not feed us kids a lot of sugar and so she made this {pretty} healthy Orange Creamsicle Dessert for us that we all loved. I introduced it to my family and I’m happy to report it is a success with the next generation.
Orange Creamsicle Ice Cream Recipe –
You can eat this tasty frozen treat in a few ways. I cut it in squares and shaved off layers… both ways tasty delicious, but choose what fits your style! This simple dessert has only a few ingredients and are all good for you so you can feel good about feeding this to your family. My kids think it tastes as good as ice cream… so even though its more like frozen yogurt, we will call it ice cream…. think a frozen orange julius and you know what this tastes like!
You can just mix the ingredients in a bowl, but I blended them for awhile in the blender and I think this added some air to give a lightness to the ice cream. Blend all the ingredients for about a minute, then pour into a 9 x 13 glass pan.
I had to use two smaller pans as I actually don’t have a 9 x 13 right now… {shocking I know!} Cover with foil and freeze for several hours or over night.
You can either scoop or cut squares to serve. {both taste amazing!} If you cut squares I like to cut it, then let sit for a couple of minutes to soften.. this makes it easy to eat with a fork.
