How to Make Pom Pom Earrings

I love making earrings! I’ve shared several fun earring tutorials over that past few years. This easy DIY pom pom earrings tutorial is another fun one that you will want to try. It’s a simple craft with adorable and wearable results! I’ve got a photo and video tutorial for you.

ok! Let’s jump in! Here is what you need to make some super awesome pom pom earrings…

• Earring hardware Hooks – Hoops – Jump Rings

Have you tried these amazing little pom pom makers? I have two different sizes and they are SO fun. Pom Pom making has never been so easy! I once used a fork to make them – See this pom pom wreath tutorial. Before we made some fun earrings – let’s check out making pom poms with my handy little maker.

With the pom pom maker you open up the plastic “wings” and then wrap yarn around both sides. When you have each side very full, you close the wings.

There is a nice little groove to slide the scissors into and cut open each side of the pompom. After you cut open both sides, take another piece of yarn and wrap it around through the groove and tie it very tight to secure the yarn.

Once you have both side wrapped, cut and tied, re-open the “wings”.

Pull the whole thing apart into the two pieces and the pom pom will come loose. Trim any long threads to create a round shape.

If you want to make these fun large pom pom hoop earrings you just slide the hoop through the center of the pom pom {through the center of the tie thread}. Repeat for a second earring and you are done! So easy and SO cute.

These cute blue earrings were made the same way only smaller hoops and smaller poms. I think this size is perfect.

The final cuties are a bit trickier but also super easy and look adorable.

Start with wrapping a smaller pom pom maker, but don’t add the tie thread. Before you wrap and tie the pom pom, add two jump rings attached together {see video}. Tie the yarn with the rings on it around the pom pom.

Trim the long yarns as before, then attach a earring hook to the second jump ring. Tighten the earring hook and repeat for a second earring.
