Inside: How to purchase free patterns and use your account. Learn how to find the download link, use the checkout and cart and utilize your free life sew savory account to create a pattern library of free patterns.
I get multiple emails a weeks asking for help with finding download links, checking out and finding previously purchased patterns. I decided to make a photo and video tutorial walking through all the steps for using your account here on Life Sew Savory to put all this information in one place and create a reference for all these questions. I hope this helps!
How to find and download patterns
I don’t even really know what to call this post.. How to find your patterns? How to use my site shop? Learn how to find and download free patterns on life sew savory? All of these describe what I am going to show you, but I don’t really have a clear title.
Already know how to use your account? Check out the next step – printing and assembling your free pdf pattern.
The video below will give you step by step how to find the download link in a post, get to my shop, add items to your cart, then check out and access your patterns then and in the future.
If you are running an ad blocker you will need to disable to see the video – or scroll down for the photo version of this tutorial.
Ok! Let’s walk through the same steps here in a photo sequence.
Purchase and access patterns –
First you need to find a post that says it has a free pattern download. For this tutorial we will use the Loose Knit Shorts Free Pattern from last week. Scroll through the post reading all the pattern details until you come to the shop link for the actual download. It may look like this {red button}{All newer patterns have this}
Older posts may have a text link OR a graphic that says click here. All posts have this link around two times. These types of links are in older patterns.
Find the link in whatever form in the post {now you know exactly what you are looking for!} and click it. It will bring you to the listing for that pattern in my shop. {some patterns used to also be on craftsy/bluprint, but everything is now just in my shop}
In the listing you will see a description, a link back to the sewing tutorial for actually sewing the pattern and then you will see this button to add the item to your cart. Click it.
You can then continue shopping, adding each pattern to your cart, OR scroll up and click the view cart button to begin checkout.
When you get to the cart you will see all the items you have added. I only have one item in my cart – the shorts. Once I am in my cart I can hit the proceed to checkout.
Add your personal details to checkout. If you have an existing account you won’t need to add this info again. You will only need payment info if purchasing a paid pattern. Free patterns you don’t need any payment information collected. Then click place order.
Next you will see an order confirmation right on the screen. You can actually download the pattern right from here. The circled link will take you back to the shop and the button UNDER the download text will start the download {the arrow below shows you where can access the download.
You will also receive a confirmation email. You can find both the link back to the shop AND the download in this email. If you don’t see this email make sure to check your junk/spam mail.
If you want to access your patterns at a later time you can always go to lifesewsavory.com/my-account/ and login with your email and password. If you hover over the shop button on the menu you will see the account button. Once in your account you can access all your patterns and orders with the menu on the left hand side.
And that’s it!! Now you can download and re-download your patterns to your hearts content. You can find all my free pdf pattern HERE. Or check out everything in the SHOP.

I wanted something easy to start off making with my new serger and I found your free patterns and I thought I would try “The simple summer tank”. I have the material and I printed out the pattern and I am trying to put it together. I am not sure about what numbers are the back and which are the front. Most are matching up but I am having trouble with 10 through 15. Any help would be very helpful and appreciated. Thanks for the free patterns.

I’m not sure… some printers do get slightly off the more pages they print.. I would just try to line it up the best you can. This is a very forgiving pattern so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Your website says if trying to download load a free PDF pattern, that payment info isn’t necessary. But it will not let me download without it. Website is not user friendly. I’m not giving you my credit card info for something that’s free.
