Are you ready for school to start? This year I have a son in full day Kindergarten and a son starting preschool…. this means I will have a few hours everyday alone! {I have mixed feelings about this!} I also know that I will want to make the most of the time I do have with my boys. When they get off the bus they will want an after school snack and it will be a great time to talk about their day at school. This is also a great time to reinforce what they have been learning during the day. While they won’t have school assigned home work yet, I do like to “study” a bit with fun and educational activities. The Disney Jr. back to school items are great because they combine learning, fun and my kids’ favorite Disney Jr. characters! We were really excited to try out this after school pirate snack and Jake and the Neverland Pirates rhyming pack. {yes I rhymed snack and pack!}
The back to school isle at Walmart had lots of Disney Jr. learning fun! We Chose the Rhyming activity and the First Words Activity packs. I was loving the Learning Easel Center, but I couldn’t sell the princess theme to my boys. Here are a list of all the packs you can find at Walmart. So many great preschool topics!
- Learning Easel Activity Center
- Learning Schoolhouse Activity
- Counting Learning Activity
- First Words Learning Activity
- Rhyming Learning Activity
- Alphabet Learning Activity
- Numbers Learning Activity
- Colors & Shapes Learning Activity
Since I need an afternoon snack anyway when my boys get home, I thought I would create a snack around the activity we were working on as well. The rhyming pack is Jake and the Neverland Pirates themed, so I came up with these cute after school pirate snacks to go along with our work.
The boats are sausage cut into smiles shapes {you could also use orange/apple wedges} then a toothpick with a triangle of cheese for the sail. These were a huge hit! For a little fun on the side, I added some fish crackers “swimming” in peanut butter. Yum!
The rhyming pack came with many different activities and at various levels. There are picture coins to choose the rhyming words, then you can work up to writing your own words.
Of course, a snack while you are working makes everything better. It was fun being able to do these packs with both my boys. Even at different ability levels, it was fun for each of them.
Aren’t preschoolers the best? Nothing cuter than a 3 {almost 4 year old!}
Hard at work!
Do you have an after school snack that also makes learning fun? I need to come up with a snack for the Mickey Mouse first words pack! I will need lots of ideas for after school snacks, so if you have a good one I’d love to hear it!
There are a few more day to enter my back to school giveaway too! Enter HERE.
