Yes, these are dressy shorts… yes, my son is wearing a monster shirt with them, yes, he has food in his mouth, yes, he is not really dressed up or cooperating with these photos…. so I take photos when I can get him…. at least I was able to get his shirt tucked in so you can see the waistband and pockets! I used the Classic Chino pattern from Peek a Book Pattern Shop for these Boys shorts sewing pattern…. and I loved it! I’m also linking these up with Shorts on the Line over at Kollabora and Imagine Gnats. Head over to check out all the fabulous short and enter the giveaway!
I made my almost four year old the 4T, which is the size he normally wears, but they were a bit wide. I had to gather the back elastic A LOT…. so next time I would check the pattern measurement and size suggestions first { I didn’t do this!}. The pattern is a pants pattern that has length adjustment for pants. I also would make them a bit longer next time.
This was my first welt pocket attempt… and they were easy!! The pattern guides you so well through the process… I was way easier than I thought.
These shorts are more dressy than others I’ve sewn because they have cute front pockets in addition to the great welt pockets on the back.
Go get yourself a Classic Chino pattern and get sewing these boys dress shorts sewing pattern! I’m just noticing that the legs look different length in this photo, but they are the same, so it must be some trick photography… {ha!}
