Spring 2022 I got to sit in a virtual meeting where this Airflow3000 was unveiled for the first time. I had to say I was pretty excited about it, and my excited only grew last August when I got to try one at the Brother Back to Business event. {see my experience here} Having never used an air threading machine before this serger blew me away. I’ve been waiting on mine since late last year and it’s finally here. Today I’m going to show you what came in the box and how it went from in the box to sewing in about 10 minutes. WOW!

I was on vacation last week when my neighbor sent me a text that there was a hug box on our porch. I’m so glad that she saw it!! I had her put it in our garage and I was super excited to come home and check it out. The machine itself is only slightly bigger than my previous serger so it fits perfectly on my sewing table. I need to sew a new machine dust cover for this machine.

Also, on the video I sew a piece of fabric on this machine about 10 minutes from pulling it out of the box. It really was that fast and the settings right out of the box were amazing! It did not take much to get it sewing.

I also tried knit fabric and you can see that I needed to adjust the differential feed slightly, but it did sew really well!

Features of the Airflow3000 {my favorites at least}

This in not a full list of features by any means, but these are MY favorite features from the time I have spent on this machine.

Inside the front cover there is a lever that you switch up and down for sewing or threading. When the threading is engaged, the front cover can’t even close. It’s easy to set up the threading sequence and features like this make it obvious.

Before threading there are few things to do. One of those is to turn the hand dial until it locks into place. I love that is literally clicks/locks in. There isn’t any guess work of what position its should be. When the lever in the previous photo is set to thread, this lever locks when turns. When done in sequence it’s very simple.

Besides the actual air threading, this indicator lights is my all time favorite features. Anytime the machine isn’t ready to sew, this light comes on. Leave the front cover open? Light on! Leave the pressure foot up? Light on! Etc…How many times have I sewed a terrible seam with the pressure foot up? No more! Love this light.

And of course the real best thing about this machine is the air threading looper threads. Stick a couple of inches of thread in the hole, push the button and the thread is magically threaded! WOW!

I have so much more learning to do on this machine.. But it sewed beautifully right out of the box. I sewed a french terry fabric sweatshirt right after this and it was perfect. I forgot to show you the stitch finger lever as well, but you no longer have to remove the stitch finger. Just lower or raise a lever… another great way to switch between stitches even easier.
