I’m so excited to share this free Stocking Pattern with your today… it’s totally free and I’ve got a template to make it SUPER EASY. This cute little stocking would make a perfect child or pet stocking to full with all their holiday favorites on Christmas morning.
Free Christmas Stocking Pattern –
Ok, so the best part of stockings are the stocking stuffers and every year. I like a stocking big enough to fill, but not too big that I have to buy so many things. So today this free Christmas Stocking pattern is the perfect size for a simple stocking.
Okay!! Let’s use this Christmas Stocking Sewing Pattern to make an adorale stocking. You will need:
1/3 yard fabric {of two differnt fabrics}, the printable template {link below}, and your favorite stocking stuffers. You can click the photo below to get more information on the holiday collection.

How to Sew a Christmas Stocking –
Print and tape together the 3 pages. Then cut 2 of each fabric, so you have 4 pieces like this.
With right sides together, sew each stocking together around the curved sides. Do not sew the flat top. Clip the curved seam allowances before turning.
Turn the MAIN stocking fabric right side out and slip inside the lining stocking.
Pin and sew around the top of the stocking.
Leave a 2 inch opening to turn right side out.
Turn right side out and push the lining down inside the main stocking. Pin around the top of the stocking and close the opening. Sew around 1/8″ from the edge.
Fold over the top 2″ of the top of the stocking to form a cuff.
Take a small scrap of one of your fabrics and cut a piece 1.5″ x 4″. Fold in the two long sides, then fold again and sew shut.
Pin this to the outside edge of the stocking for a hanger. Also, sewing this here will tack down the stocking cuff.
Now you are ready to hang and stuff your stocking!! please let me know if you have any questions with this Christmas Stocking Sewing Pattern. What a cute stocking. I never thought to buy band aids for a stocking stuffer. My kids are always begging me to buy the fun character band aids but I usually get the regular ones because they are so much cheaper. I bet they would love to have some fun band aids in their stocking. Thanks for the idea.
