It’s still gorgeously fall outside, but in my sewing studio I’m gearing up for Christmas! Today I’m sharing a fun DIY felt glitter monogram ornament. This was my first Christmas project of the year and it made me feel very festive, plus I love how they turned out. I made ornaments for everyone in the family, and you can too!

Simple felt letter ornaments: with glitter!
These felt ornaments turned out so well! They were actually quite easy to make and you can make them with a cutting machine {like I did} or by hand cutting the letters. I used my ScanNCut to cut the glitter vinyl, then scissors to cut the rest. The result is a super clean cut look with bright glitter vinyl and felt backing.

These ornaments will look amazing on any tree this Christmas and you can customize them to your liking. The glitter vinyl comes in a ton of colors so change up the color and size to fit your needs.
How to make a glitter monogram ornament with felt
Supplies to make glitter felt ornaments:
- Glitter Vinyl
- White Felt
- Thread: Colors to match the glitter vinyl and white
- Organza ribbon
- {optional} sewing machine/cutting machine
- I used Brother Stellaire 2 and ScanNCut
Start by cutting your desired letters from the glitter vinyl. I cut 2″ tall letters {but you can size them any size.} I wish they were a bit bigger… I think 4″ would be perfect. The vinyl cuts really well with the ScanNCut.

Peel off the extra vinyl to reveal the letters. I cut three different colors. Red and then two different colors of gold.

Cut white felt big enough to sew the glitter letters on. Or cut several small pieces of felt if needed. With a straight stitch and matching thread {try to match the glitter vinyl color} Stitch around the letters close to the vinyl edge.

When finished, trim around the vinyl with just a small border of white felt remaining.

Trim all the letters.

Cut 6″ of cording or ribbon. Fold over the ribbon and tuck it at the top of the letter. Place the letter on another piece of white felt with the ribbon in the middle.

This time when you sew around the letter, sew on the white felt.

Trim around the letters for a final time, matching the two layers of white felt. Trim all the letters, add tree hooks and enjoy!
