The past several years I have sewed a Christmas dress {or two} for Rose. Usually I use one of my free sewing patterns and then use fun, festival fabric to make the free sewing pattern a gorgeous Christmas dress. Today I’m going to show off the free Christmas dress sewing pattern I used this year. This one is a jumper style over a beautiful shirt. The two pieces create this Christmas look.

Free Christmas Dress Pattern

I had a fun ideas to make a Christmas dress with woven fabric this year and use my free tank dress pattern. I’m sure next year I will go back to stretch fabrics {I think stretch velvet is calling my name!}, but for this year we tried some thing a bit different and it turned out beautifully.

You can find links to both patterns seen here below. I used the girls tank dress. This is the size 7 width and size 8 length. Sadly this pattern only goes up to size 8. The under shirt is a modified free girls fitted t-shirt. I used the size 7 for the base and then create a bishop sleeve. I will be sharing a tutorial for creating the bishop sleeve in January. Until then if you are last minute sewing the outfit you could look up a tutorial or use my bell sleeve modification listed below.

I purchased the fabric at my local quilt shop but it is the Christmas Eve by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics There are so many beautiful fabrics in this collection, I just used two for this dress. the white rib knit was a Hobby Lobby purchase as I didn’t have any plain white in my stash. I prefer this dress a but shorter, but Rose wanted it “as long as possible” so this is what we came up with. We hadn’t bought enough fabric for floor length, so this had to do.
