Here is the brief tutorial:
I started by cutting the table clothes from the roll into long strips. I took five of these long pieces and tied them together. From here I began my five strand braid, its a basic over under weave pattern..
It goes fast once you get the hang of it. Take either the far left piece or the far right piece and do an over-under until that piece is now in the very center. Start from the opposite side and do the same. Continue this until one piece ends, then you need to tie on a new strip, either the same color or change it up for varying pattern.
It should begin to look like this as you get going.
The next step is to take the long braid and lace it all together. I used a plastic thread to keep in the plastic theme. A diaper pin helps to thread it through. I just start in the middle and begin coiling the braid. As you go thread the lacing through places in the braid to hold the coil together.
To finish off I went down to a three strand braid, then tied it off. You can see this on the far left side of the rug. I love the finished product. Hope this helps you to make your own fun plastic rug!

What an absolutely brilliant idea! Thanks so much for sharing!
I have seen a similar project but the plastic was crocheted. I’m a much better “braider” than a “crocheter”. I love this idea! Kudos!

It seems very durable and great for a kitchen where it will get wet and need to be cleaned. I think I can just wash off the whole thing when I need to.leather adhesive
