I’ve sewn a few projects with vintage sheets in the last year, so I decided it was time to put together a more extensive lists of tips and ideas for sewing with vintage linens. Inspiration for sewing with vintage linens

I’ve only really sewn pajamas with vintage sheets, but as I looked around there are so many other fun things to make and sew with old linens. Scroll down to see the full list of everything I found for you.

How to sew with vintage sheets

When I say vintage linens I usually mean sheets, but there are also some amazing handkerchief finds out there as well. I haven’t found any good ones, but we don’t have any super great thrift store by me and I don’t usually hunt at estate sales… With that said here are some of my favorite things about sewing with vintage sheets are…

Tons of fabric! A single fitted or flat sheet is a lot of fabric and if you happen to get your hands on a full set then you are really in business.
Use the original sheet edges for hems. I just love the way this looks! Especially with a contrasting edge like in my capri pj post.
Low stakes way to sew. Are you afraid to cut into your good fabric? Grab an old sheet {not a pretty vintage one} and cut it up for fabric. Sometimes when I buy sheet sets that I dont need both parts of I will use one piece for fabric.
