Last week we took a family trip to Mongolia. Before we went I made my kids each a new jacket. I thought I would share a bit about my kids winter fall outwear sewing patterns and a collection of a few more patterns that I think are really great. I’m so so pleased with how these three very different jackets turned out. Here are my kids {freezing and complaining while I took this a top a Mongolian mountain} showing off their fab jackets…
Kids Winter Fall Outerwear Sewing Patterns List
During our week in chilly Mongolia I snapped a bunch of photos of the jackets in action…
We hiked to the top of this gorgeous mountain and the boys enjoyed the view…
The favorite feature of all my kids is the pockets… A must have for sure!
These boys… the best of friends and the worst of enemies at the same time {ha!}
And this one.. we just love her to pieces… She loved hamming it up for the camera. I used my sewing machine to create the X stitch around this jacket…
And the back… LOVE the pleat….
We were outside nearly all day every day on our trip and these jackets kept my boys warm for the week.
Here are the details for the coats my kids are wearing…
Coat and Jacket PDF sewing patterns-
Max is wearing the Happy Camper Reversible Jacket by Peek a Boo Patterns. His is made with one layer of fleece and one layer of a lining fabric. More of a fall jacket, we layered for our trip. I made two of these a few years ago. You can read more about it here... Max has now grown into the one I originally made for Jack.
Jack is wearing the Bridgeport Jacket by Peek a Boo Patterns. This is a newly released pattern and It was a fun sew. The V in the back was tricky for me, but I like how it turned out. I used an active wear water resistant fabric I got on clearance at Hancock fabrics this summer for the main part {the blue} and it was a nightmare to sew.. thin.. stretchy.. NOT good… so.. I would change that when I made another one. It’s lined with a thin performance fleece. We love the pockets and hood.
Rose is wearing the Ninuta by Figgys. {In the years since I first wrote this post, Figgys is no longer selling patterns.. so sorry.. }The pattern gives instructions for a lined version {that I made} or an unlined version. I used wool for the outer and just quilting cotton for the lining. The wool is the same fabric I used for this skirt, so it was thin, but not too thin. With layers this also was warm enough for Rose on our trip.
I also sewed this Pixie Pea Coat a few years ago.. It was a great refashion as I made the coat from a blanket.
And here are a few other Kids fall winter outerwear sewing patterns that I think are just great. {note: I haven’t tried all these, but would like to!}
