Today Pac Man Pj tutorial is inspire by Project Run and Play. I love seeing the fun themes each season and this season is starting with a bang! I’m no expert on 80’s cartoons, but once my husband mentioned Pac Man I was ready to go! So, get ready to make some awesome Pac Man Pjs with this tutorial.
I think he likes them! I used a hand me down t-shirt and sweat pants for the base of this project, so it really was a quick one. I added a few Pac Man details for a super fun pj set.
Cute right? Pac Man on the shirt and the Ghosts on the pants. Of course we had to totally explain the game to Jack. {more accurately, my husband did the explaining…I was born at the start of the 80’s to a family who didn’t to video games, so I’m pretty clueless}
The project was a great way to use up some felt scraps I had on hand.
ok, let’s get started with this Pac Man Pj tutorial. You can grab the printable Pac Man and ghost graphic for free {yeah!} Grab a t-shirt and sweats, plus some flannel scraps and you will be set.
I took off about 5 inches from the bottom of the sweat pants. I then made a cuff from a scrap of yellow flannel. I wanted to add about an inch to the length of the pants, so I made it longer than what I had cut off.
I made the cuff with a doubled over length of flannel. Cut it to the right width.. should be double the bottom of the pants.
Cut out 1 pac man and 2 ghosts..
Copy the eyes to the ghosts. I used a Sharpie marker, but a fabric marker would work well too. Sew the yellow cuff together at the short side, then sew a ghost to one layer of the yellow. My ghost is bigger then the cuff. You can see in the photo below how the head is taller than the cuff. Sew the ghost to the cuff leaving more than an inch unsewn at the cuff top.
Now place the cuff right sides together with the pant let. Tuck the ghost head down inside so it doesn’t get caught while sewing. {see arrow} Sew the cuff to the pants.
Two cuffs… one with finished ghost, one unfinished. Fold the ghost head up, pin and sew to the pant leg.
I used fabric paint for the yellow dots on the pants and shirt. Use a round sponge or improvise with anything round {like I did} to get the circles.
Sew the Pac Man to the center of the t-shirt and add a couple of dots for him to eat.
Put them together and you have some pretty sweet pjs. And even if you have no idea about the pac man game, you can still think these are pretty great, Jack totally does!
Sweet Dreams! You can find the tutorial for the Pillow cover here.
And of course I always get some good outtakes from my boys.
