Sewing for girls… the Sally Dress
I don’t get the chance to sew much for girls.. or should I say that because I have two boys I tend to just sew more for them…. I’m sewing along with Project Run and Play this season and the Movie inspired theme left me uninspired when I thought of boys clothes. When I saw this pink STAR material I thought it would be perfect to use for the movies… So… here are my
{Movie} STAR dresses…. using the Sally Pattern by Very Shannon…
and let me tell you.. these two little girls felt like movie stars in these cute matching dresses…
Thanks to my two adorable models {my friends daughters} for all the beautiful smiles and an easy photo shoot. WOW were they easier to shoot than my two boys!
Perfect for girls who like to look pretty and still have fun running around.
and twirling…
I just recently bought my first serger sewing machine {insert wild happiness here!!!} so I made a few changes to the pattern. Around the arm holes and the waist the pattern calls for some hand-sewing to make it a completely hidden seam… however…. why hand sew when I have a new toy that makes seams like this!!!
SO my bodice top looks like this on the inside…. neat enough for me and a whole lot quicker that hand sewing the arm holes and waist.
I just LOVE the big pockets on this dress.
I make a 4T and 2T… I think the 2T is bit too long…
its always fun to sew a new pattern and make a little girl happy in the process. I do enjoy sewing for girls and find dresses faster to sew than boys pants…
