I’m pretty excited to reveal this post today! I’ve been sewing jeans! That’s right, I sewed myself a pair of jeans. A while ago I would never have thought this was something I would do. But, I’ve really been working on sewing more for myself, so I found a pattern, some fabric, a jean button, a few button studs and started sewing… and here is the result. Pretty fabulous if I do say so myself…
Tomorrow I’ll be sharing some tips for sewing jeans, but today I’m just focusing on this pair of great fitting jeans. I used the Burda Anita Pattern #6006. The pattern was easy to follow and the sizing was perfect. I may have underestimated the size of my derriere, so the back isn’t quite as high as I would like. But the fit is otherwise perfect.
I was pretty nervous about putting in the zipper. I’ve only ever done a faux fly on the jeans I made for my boys last fall. I’ll share a few more thoughts about the fly on these jeans in tomorrows post. Here’s a closer look.
I decided to make these kind of a cropped length for spring and I think the rolled cuff is amazing. This pattern had two different pockets on the back. I’m not sure if they were pocket options or you were suppose to use both… I sewed up both and then decided it looked really strange having two different pockets, SO I made up another right pocket and sewed two right pockets for a fabulous looking backside.I was able to use a real jean button {just hammered it in!} and some cute rivits on the pockets. These details and my colored top-stitching really give these the look of store bought jeans. Check out this post with my 10 TIPS FOR SEWING JEANS. Great thoughts to get your started sewing jeans!
Here are a few other projects I’ve made for myself.
