inside: Check out the list of my must-have sewing tools. This list of sewing tools I can’t live without will inspire you to see which ones are your favorites as well and others you might like to try.
I’ve been sewing and blogging for a long time now. There are a ton of “fun” sewing gadgets that I use occasionally, but today I’m going to share a list of my all-time favorite sewing tools. The sewing tools I can’t live without… the ones I use nearly every project and that live on my sewing table. Hopefully this list can inspire you to think about your favorite sewing tools as well!
My favorite sewing tools:
I wanted to show you photos of these actual items on my sewing table… these aren’t just products that I found online… here’s proof I really do love them… {I resisted the urge to take a photo hugging each one} {haha}
Sewing clips… seriously I don’t know how I would live without these any more. I bought my first cheap set {this tin} in winter of 2018 and am still using the same set! I’ve lost a few and broken a few, but I still have plenty. No need to spend a lot on this item… a set like this does the trick!

Scissors… I’ve put a few different ones on this list, because I love each and every one of them for different reasons. My small snips for threads and embroidery, my everyday sewing scissors for fabric and trimming and my spring loaded scissors for rag-quilts and other repetitive action cutting.

Rotary Blade… like my scissors, but a little different, I use my rotary blade for almost all pattern cutting. This item pairs perfectly with my magnetic cutting mat.
Magnetic cutting mat.. oh my love! I don’t know how I cut anything out before {haha} I use my magnetic mat for almost all pattern and shape cutting. The only reason I don’t use it is when the pattern is way too big for my mat {I need the bigger one!}

Darning needle… this may seems so simple, but this blunt end darning needle is what I use to finish off my serger tails when using my serger {which is all the time} and it works just perfectly for the task.

Elastic threading Bodkin.. again, so simple and yet so useful. Makes threading elastic through any casing so simple and easy.. Mine is loosing it’s grip slightly, so I’ve been having to fold my elastic over to make it a bit thicker.. but it’s still going strong. I can’t even tell you how long I have had this tool.

What would you add to this list???

Sew Magnetic Cutting System

Multipurpose Sewing Clips, 100 Pcs
I have owned this exact set for almost 8 years. I've lost and broke some, but still have enough to use for every project.

Tools you can’t sew without: hemostats! Those medical clamp/tweezers s are essential for holding and removing threads, holding appliqués, and a million other things. Mine are used vet tools on sale on Amazon. Do yourself a big, big favor and get a pair or two. I use both straight and curved ones.

Never thought of a darning needle for serger thread, seems to me it would be fiddly to thread. I use a small metal crochet needle. It’s easy to get all the threads in the hook. I will try the darning needle, who knows, I might like it.

My thimble. I can’t hand sew without it. I also have a set of turning tubes that are so well used. A few years ago I purchased a projector. I have often told my husband that it is the best thing I’ve added to the sewing studio. I use a lot of PDF patterns and my projector has taken that from a trimming and gluing pain to a quick easy way of using those patterns.

Do you have a favorite tool for marking fabric like chalk, pens, or tracing paper, or do you mostly just cut and clip without marking much?
