When my son {Jack} was a toddler we played games thinking up all the words or phrases that had “jack” in them. Jack O Lanterns always came up and we enjoyed talking about fall, Jack O Lanterns and the fun that comes with the season. I’ve got a super easy and fun kids’ activity AND snack for you today using Snack Pack Pudding cups to make Jack O Lanterns.
I love pudding! It’s one of my favorite sweet snacks… When I picked up these Snack Pack Puddings I learned that it not only tastes great, but has the same amount of calcium as an 8oz glass of milk. {yeah!} You can find Snack Pack pudding cups at Walmart in the isle with the baking/dessert supplies. Many Walmart’s also have a special end display with the pudding cups, recipes and other fun ingredients to mix in.
These Snack Pack Jack O Lanterns are the perfect addition to a Halloween party because they are not just a snack, it’s also a fun party activity that kids can make themselves! To make you will need:
Vanilla Snack Pack Pudding Cups
Felt with adhesive backing {cut up lots of small triangle shapes}
Thick green straws
Orange food coloring
You could let older kids cut out their own Jack O Lantern face pieces… but for my little ones I just wanted them to create faces from the triangles.
With the pudding cup top still on, have kids decorate the side of the cup to look like a Jack O Lantern face. You can create cute faces just using triangles. Peel the backing from the felt and stick to the side.
Open up the cup and add just a drop or two of orange coloring to complete your pumpkin look. Stir to mix it in.
If you have nice thick straws they not only look like a pumpkin stem, but you can also use it to suck the pudding right up. No need for spoons! Here is the face my four year old created…yum!
And a little more detail by the six year old! Scary face pudding cup Jack O Lantern {made by a real Jack!}
We had a blast making AND eating these! What kind of face would you make? You can also use the same felt concept to create these fun trick or treat bags.
