It’s still WAY too hot here in Hong Kong to wear a hat, but I just had to try a pattern from a new book I got as a gift this summer. I’ve been looking forward to knitting one of these; they are all SO cute.
Since I don’t know the gender of my next baby (actually my due date is TODAY, come on baby!), I decided to knit a winter hat for my two year old. I’m not sure if it was my needles or yarn, but my hat is WAY to big for a two year old. The pattern said it was for a 1-2 year old. I was able to get him to pose for a few pictures, but it will have to given to a slightly older kid.
I wasn’t going to add the fleece lining, just a nice cotton hat for the coolness of HK, but now that I will give it as a gift, I added the liner, and it looks so great.
I’m still really looking forward to trying out more patterns, even this one again (smaller). Stay posted for more great hats!

Oh my goodness that turned out super, super cute!!! I love the fleece lining. You could always save it for Jack, he’ll wear it soon enough. Good work!!

What a cute little hat (and a very cute little two year old too)! As the lady in the comment before said, he’ll soon grow into it 🙂 Hope your new baby arrives soon.

I have seen the fleece lining in a couple hats now and think it is a great idea – especially if you use wool yarn. It doesn’t look too big for Jack – I’d keep it. He’ll be wearing it before you know it!

Am crocheting an earflap hat at the moment for my wee one (10 months) and … well, no pattern worked … I kinda ended up making one up …
How did you make the fleece lining? I want to line mine with flannell – hope that will work …
