I’ve shared quite a bit about our adoption over the last few months… it’s been an amazing journey and we are all doing so well as a family of five. There have been a few things I didn’t really think about when adopting a toddler… one of those was the fact that she is currently cutting her eye teeth… and those are NOT FUN… I remember that much from my boys. So in addition to adjusting to a new family, going through jet lag, our little girl is also teething! I’ve been making these healthy toddler teething popsicles for her all summer to soothe those sore gums!
Thankfully we are half way there! Two of those four teeth are through, then hopefully we will have a break before the two year molars start coming. Today I’m going to be sharing several popsicle recipes that are healthy for toddlers and can help soothe sore gums!
These popsicles have been so great for during the day, but there also have been some rough nights. Infants’ Advil® to keep toddlers comfortable on those nights… I found Infants’ Advil® at Walgreens, and with the instant coupon for $1.50 off it really saved the day {night}. You can get the coupon here.
I choose Infants’ Advil® because it’s available for infants ages 6 to 23 months old in a non- staining, Dye-Free White Grape liquid. {which Rose found yummy!} Also it contains ibuprofen, the medicine pediatricians use most for their own kids’ fevers and is effective to relieve their babies’ pain with up to 8- hours of relief in just one dose.
Ok, now for the healthy toddler teething popsicles recipe! I made three different types and all were a hit. {even my older boys liked them!} A big tip is just to make them small! Do not fill your popsicle form very full. I use just regular popsicle sticks for the holders too, then I don’t have to worry if she doesn’t bring it back and it reaches all the way down in the mold. You can use any popsicle mold you currently have or even ice cube trays in a pinch…
Smoothie Popsicle.. {this one takes the most work!} Make your favorite healthy smoothie, then save a little to pour into your popsicle mold. Makes a great soother later. My favorite healthy smoothie is frozen fruit {whatever I have on hand}, 1 frozen banana, plain greek yogurt, some almond milk, and then some chia seeds and flax seeds, dried kale, or frozen spinach… whatever I have on hand… Blend together and enjoy!
Juice and Yogurt popsicle… of course you can just make juice pops, but I have found those to be a sticky, messy ordeal… even when I make them small. A tip that I have found is to make the popsicles half juice and half plain yogurt. The yogurt melts much slower and keeps these popsicles almost drip free. I like orange juice, but you can use any you like. Equal parts juice and yogurt does the trick!
If you just don’t have time.. squeeze your favorite fruit or fruit and veggie pouch into your popsicle mold. One pouch should make around 4 popsicles. Another super easy option is to cut a banana in thirds, then put a stick in each one, freeze and enjoy!
See how tiny this smoothie popsicle is? Less drips and just enough to soothe her gums.
Even the fruit/veg pouch pop was a hit! Great snack and comforter at the same time!

Teething is basically the bane of my existence! lol. Fortunately, #3 is getting closer to the end of it, and there is light at the end of the tunnel! She does have a couple of molars left to come in, so I’ll be trying this when they start to bug her!

Your daughter is adorable! My poor toddler has been teething for what feels like forever. She’s 21 months and still only has 4 teeth! I keep thinking her teeth are going to come out at any moment and we’re still waiting. Frozen popsicles seems like a great way to soothe those gums. She’s been wary of frozen things, but I will have to try these with her. Stopping by from SITS.
