Spinach Dip in a Homemade Bread Bowl

 I’ve been sharing a few spinach recipes lately… and I realize how much I love it! This Spinach Dip in a homemade bread bowl recipe is very tasty, and a crown pleaser. I took it to a Super Bowl party last week and it was a hit! The dip recipe and the bread recipe make just enough to compliment each other.

You can easily make the spinach dip and serve it with crackers, bread you buy or this amazing homemade bread recipe. I use my easy bread recipe {pretty much no fail!} and it worked perfectly. The only change is to shape it into a round loaf instead of putting in a loaf pan before baking.

Spinach Dip in a Homemade Bread Bowl

Spinach Dip in a Homemade Bread Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 package dry onion soup mix
  • 1 cup packed thawed frozen spinach
  • make this bread recipe

Instructions

  1. Thaw frozen spinach and pack one cup full of the thawed spinach {I like a lot, you can use less if desired}
  2. In a mixing bowl combine the mayo, sour cream, soup mix, and spinach. Mix well and sit 1 hour before you serve. Bake bread as directed {or purchase some} Cut the loaf in a cross design, do not cut all the way down. Pull the several of the center pieces out and fill with the dip. Place the pulled out pieces on the side of the serving plate.

Note: some people like to use the vegetable soup mix, but I prefer the onion soup mix.

After your bread cools, cut in a criss cross design…then pull out the center.

Fill with dip and enjoy! This is one of my all time favorite appetizers… {ok, I probably say that every time I share an appetizer…but I love them all!}

The bread pieces around the dip were easy to pull apart and dip. I also stuck a spoon in the dip for easy serving.
