My daughter is about to have her birthday. She’s also a bit taken with tea parties right now, so we decided on a tea party themed birthday party for her this year. We thought she could invite a couple of friends, and each have them bring their favorite doll or stuffed animal to join the party. Birthday parties with Hersheys treats are always a hit in our home!
Tea Themed Birthday Party
Because we are also inviting each girl to bring a doll/animal along, the party favor is an easy tulle skirt that I made for each girl to take home. I’ll share the doll skirt tutorial and other ideas and activities that you could plan for a tea party themed birthday in this post. If you have other great ideas to add, I’d love for you to leave a comment and let me know so I can add it to my list!
You can find the tutorial for the GIRL SIZE skirt here.
This tea party set up was quick and easy with the help of the new Hershey’s Kisses Birthday Cake Candies and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Miniature. We used some bite-sized snacks for our tea party treats and kept things simple. These Hershey birthday products come dressed in their party best and made tea party set up easy. I also added some crackers and raisins to our tea party spread. You can put out any finger food that your kids like to compliment the fun birthday wrapped treats.
I thought tulle party skirts would be a fun favor to hand out at our party and I’m going to show you how to make them too. You will need 6″ wide pieces of tulle. You can buy in a roll this width. Cut a piece about 60″ long, then fold in half so it is double over, 30″ long. On the top long edge, fold over both layers 3/4″ and pin. Sew along this folded over edge to create a casing for the elastic.
Measure the approx waist of your doll or teddy… you can just estimate if you don’t know the actual size, it will stretch to fit others.
Thread the elastic through this tube with a large safety pin to pull it through.
Pull until all the way through and pin the ends together – sew.
I used some 2″ wide strips of fabric to make a top for the doll, and then add the skirt to complete the party outfit! Make one for each doll/animal coming to your party.
Another fun and easy activities is to gather some pipe cleaners and beads and make fancy tea party bracelets. Just twist the pipe cleaner to fasten after you’ve threaded enough beads.
Another fun idea is to trace the outline of the candy onto some paper in the shape of a house or a castle {keeping with the tea theme!}. Make copies and pass our to the guest to decorate with their party favor candy treats.
After this practice party, we are very excited for the real birthday tea party that we will throw at the end of this month.

Good morning Emily,
Oh my, these are absolutely adorable ideas. My girls would love the tutus for their dolls.
I wanted to let you know, you had linked this up to my Wordless Wednesday post, but I have a feeling it was meant to be linked to Littles Learning Link Up. I’m hesitant to change it myself, however, just in case I am wrong. If you did mean for it to be on Littles Learning Link Up, I would love if you could stop by and add it there. I will then delete it from Wordless Wednesday. Here is the direct link to the Littles Learning Link Up.
