I’ve been making this Easy Stromboli Recipe for many years and it’s become a family favorite! A dear friend used to make this all this time, and after she gave me the recipe – I’ve been making it ever since. Plus… isn’t it so fun to say? STROMBOLI! rolls off the tongue and I can pretend I’m Italian {grin}. SO… here’s my favorite stromboli recipe and I hope you will enjoy it!
Easy Stromboli Recipe –
I love the crunchy outside and soft inside on this easy stromboli recipe.. and I know from-scratch and easy aren’t generally used together, but this really is an easy bread recipe which equals an easy stromboli! There is a bit of wait time involved, but the actual work time is not hard.
You can see the full how-to in the video below, but basically you make the dough, let it rise, roll it out, top it with pizza toppings, roll it up, let it rise, bake it and EAT it… easy right… okay.. so it’s a bit of work, but the results are soooo worth it. Here’s my stromboli rolled up and rising for a second time.
And here’s my delicious stromboli sliced and ready to eat. Even though I put sauce inside it, I love dipping it in more sauce. {I like sauce – can you tell?} Of course this is amazing served fresh, but my husband loves it for lunch leftovers at work the next day as well. If you don’t want your bread quite to crunchy you can cover when baking, I’ve give that detail in the instructions.
You can see in the video that our family has some different stromboli orders… meatless, cheeseless, veggies, no veggies.. I made all these special orders all in one great roll.

Stromboli
Ingredients
- You can use your favorite bread recipe or my favorite here:
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 TBS dry, quick yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 TBS brown sugar
- 2 TBS olive oil
- 4-6 cups bread flour
- Pizza toppings {veggies, pepperoni, 2 cups Mozz cheese-shredded}
- Tomato sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water
- add the salt, oil and milk
- Add two cups of flour, continue to add flour by 1/2 cups until a dough forms in the bowl. you can put your hand in the bowl and knead. Add a bit more flour if needed. Knead until no longer sticky. around 5 min.
- place in oiled bowl ( I used cooking spray) let sit 20 min. Usually at this point I knead again then form and place in bread pan
- For this recipe you will now knead once or twice, then use your hands to spread out until its no more than 1/2 inch thick.
- Place all your toppings on the rolled out bread dough. I used mushrooms, onions, peppers, chunks of Mozz cheese and pepperoni on half. YOu can add sauce now, or just dip in sauce later. Roll the dough along the long edge. Place on a greased cookie sheet and let rise in a warm place for 20/30 min.
- Bake at 350 for around 35 min, but start checking after 30. You can cover with some foil to prevent the outside from getting burnt before the middle is cooked. Take off for the last 10 min. to crisp. Remove and slice. Serve with warm tomato sauce for dipping!

That looks amazing! Is it hard to get your ingredients where you live? We take so much for granted in the states, don’t we?
