Pleated Short Pattern

I’m excited to be participating in Selfish sewing week again this year… I have at least two projects that I am working on…I have a few other commitments this week… so not sure if I will be sharing more than that. First up… I bought this cute pleated shorts pattern from Burda and sewed them up over the weekend. Selfish sewing projects will all be on Kollabora this year. Follow me along here.

I would like to sew up this pleated shorts pattern again because my pleats aren’t great… its more noticeable when I have them on. I don’t have more fabric, but will be making this again for sure.  I don’t usually wear something so high-waisted, but I think I like the way  these look. And yes, I’m not so smooth with hiding the camera remote {I need tips!} {ah!}

I really love the fabric I used.. its a linen blend with a light pin stripe.. I will have to try and find the same fabric when I try again. I also really love that it has a pocket, because I always need a place to stash things! The only alteration I made was to add a bit of length to the hem.

I was SO pleased with how the invisible zipper turned out. I don’t have the special foot, so I worked really hard to get it in place and hidden. I think it turned out perfect! There is just a small gap at the waistband.

 I love that this pattern was only $5.99 because I’m supper cheap when it comes to patterns… For kids I don’t even usually spend that much, but for a pair of dress shorts I knew it would be easier to have a pattern than to wing it!
