What is it about kids and hot dogs? I just don’t see the attraction! {ha}. My boys love them, so I set out to create a lunch that was hot dog related and semi-healthy. To continue with my kids fun week I’m sharing my semi-healthy recipe that you can adapt to make pigs in a blanket as well. I used this healthy crescent roll recipe as a base and added nitrate free hot dogs. Even with these modifications I hesitate to say this is a healthy lunch, so no judging, ok? Let’s start with the healthy crescent roll recipe. Healthy Crescent Roll Recipe

We ate the regular crescent rolls for dinner one evening with some soup, and then I took the hot dog rolls with us on a park and picnic morning. My kids thought these were pretty tasty and ate them right up. Even room temperature they were a hit. With the whole wheat flour and lack of nitrates in the all beef hot dogs, I think this is a lunch I can feel okay about feeding my kids every once in awhile. They certainly were eaten up fast, so its probably time for another batch. They do store and are fine the next day as well.
