We love waffles! In fact, we just had them as breakfast for dinner tonight. A few weeks ago I made this amazing whole wheat waffle recipe with bananas and cinnamon chips. They were AHHHHH-Mazing!! What a winning combination. And… fairly healthy with the whole wheat flour.
Whole Wheat Waffle Recipe-
Okay let’s get back to the whole wheat waffle recipe. Of course you can take your favorite recipe and just change out the flour, add cinnamon chips and bananas! here is my recipe though..
Whole Wheat Waffle recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour {or 1/2 white and 1/2 wheat}
- 1 cup skim milk {more if needed-keep adding until thin enough}
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 banana sliced thinly
- 1/2 cup cinnamon chips
Instructions
- Mix the flour, milk, egg and baking powder. Add a bit more milk if needed for consistency.
- Add the cinnamon chips at this point.
- Pour a scoop of batter on the waffle maker and then place 5/6 banana slices on top of the batter. Close waffle maker and cook both sides until done.
- repeat until mix is gone. Should make around 6 waffles.
What do you put in your waffles? {or panckes?} Do you have a family favorite variation? Have you tried a whole wheat waffle recipe? I find that with all the goodies in this one, you don’t even notice the flour change. YUM!

I began making the recipe and the consistency was too thick even with adding some milk. Also there is a discrepancy in the recipe- you say baking soda in the ingredients but baking powder in the instructions. Which is correct? I ended up referencing a more reliable recipe and adapting it.

I’ll have to check the powder/soda issue.. it should be powder… Depending on flour you just keep adding milk until its the consistency you want ;o)
