Inside: Super excited to show you how to make this DIY keychain for St Patricks day AND a free SVG file you can use to create a shirt or other fun crafts St. Paddy’s!
I’m so excited to be joining with a group of talented crafters to bring you a monthly list of FREE svg files AND a craft you can make with it on my site. This month I’ve got a fun DIY Keychain craft or you can add the free cut file to a shirt. Both ways are a fun way to wear green for St. Paddy’s day. My kids will each have a St. Paddy’s day keychain to add to their backpacks on the 17th.
DIY Keychain craft for St. Patricks Day
Each month our little group will share a free svg cut file on our sites and then link to each other so you can check out all the fun projects and then click through to the ones you want. I have my files for you here as well as a project how to use it.
How cute is this easy key chain DIY? Download the free cut file, grab some felt and get crafting!
You can also use the same free file to cut with all vinyl and iron on a shirt. Only my smallest would wear this, but it’s still a fun project and I love heat vinyl. Need help with heat transfer vinyl? Check out this post here.
Alright, let’s get crafting! Click the button below to download the zip file. Unzip it for the free svg and also a photo version.
Can’t Pinch this DIY Key Chain {or bag tags} Supplies:
- The Cut File: Can’t Pinch this file {button above}
- Heat transfer Vinyl
- Stiff Green Felt
- Cutting machine { I used a Scan N Cut}
- Want to make a shirt? Skip the felt and grab a t-shirt.
Begin by downloading and un-zipping the file, then open in your cutting machine software. You can find out more about using the Scan N Cut here.
If you want to cut with two different colors or materials {like felt and vinyl} – Begin by hiding the layer you don’t want to cut. I do this by clicking the eye shown here. the clover layer disappears.
Remember when using heat transfer vinyl you have to reverse your image. I can do this on my machine, but I like to try and remember before I send the file over to be cut. Flip to Mirror the words.
Cut the vinyl and then weed it.
Repeat the previous steps to cut the felt clover leaf. You can cut this step from vinyl or felt.
Place the vinyl side down on the felt and iron to attach. Peel the transfer layer off the vinyl. If there are any loose spots, put the clear layer back and iron again.
Cut a small hole and add a string or ribbon if you want it to hang on a bag or be a key chain.
