inside: a free long sleeve shirt pattern – the girls swing tee, the perfect shirt sewing pattern. Long sleeve version newly added to the original swing tee pattern. Free pdf in sizes 4-16 years.
I’ve finally finished it! The popular girls swing tee now has a long sleeve version so you can sew this all year long. Make in warm cozy winter fabrics for delightful long sleeve swing tees. I added some embroidery and thumb cuffs to the version seen here and information for all those details are below.
Free Long Sleeve Shirt Pattern
I originally made this shirt to demonstrate how to make thumb hole cuffs on an episode of It’s Sew Easy. Its made of the SOFTEST oatmeal French Terry fleece sweatshirt from Raspberry Creek Fabrics and it is seriously the softest fabric I have ever felt.
Have you seen the original girls swing tee? It’s a great free pattern and you can download the girls swing tee here. That is also the post you should refer to sew the long sleeve version if you aren’t familiar with the pattern.
This is the original shirt length, but it would be easy to add several inches and make this a cute swing dress.
This new long sleeve shirt pattern got two thumbs up from my daughter and I’m sure you will love it to. Here are the details for downloading and sewing your own version.
Download the LONG sleeve version here –
I’m not going to provide sewing instructions in this post for the new tee version, if you need help sewing it up, head over to the original post and see the instructions there.
Need help with PDFs in general? See my printing and assembly how-to post.
NOTE: the original instructions have a neck binding instead of a neck band like shown here. If you want to add a band, just follow the neckline instructions in this womens tee post – the process is the same and the photos show it well.
So the instructions for the pattern will just give you a normal hem. You can always add a cuff as well. OR you can add a thumb cuff as shown here.
And when we don’t want the long thumb cuff we just fold over and use as a regular cuff.
And there you go! All the details to make your own long sleeve swing top in many, many sizes and enjoy both the short and long sleeve versions all year long.
Mary Craig says
Hello!
I am a Nana, just learning to sew! I love your pattern for the long sleeved swing tee, and would like to try making it for my granddaughter, who is just now wearing a 3T. Your pattern starts with size 4. If you can please tell me what the approximate front and back lengths should be for a child 35” tall, I think I could figure the rest out. Do you have other patterns available in toddler sizes? I’m so anxious to get started! Now if I can figure out how to download your patterns I should be all set.
Thank you for your website. I’m going to start following you. Do you have any suggestions for a beginner?
Sincerely,
Mary Craig
